Kudos to

the Hauser 8th Grade Girls Scout Troop which has placed recycle-only trash cans at Harrington Park, Swan Pond, Indian Gardens Park and Big Ball Park where children will be playing soccer for the next 8 weeks. Way to GO GIRLS!

Maureen Colvin from St Mary's Green Team on starting the school year green.

Our residents who made the Riverside recycling program one of the highest volume and participation programs in the western suburbs. Last year Riverside residents recycled over 1300 tons of material with the average household recycling 975 pounds of material. According to the Environmental Protection Agency's figures, this helped conserve nearly 11,000 trees and 4-1/2 million gallons of water!  WoHOO!

Gina Bellan Heck, Starbucks barrista at the Broadview Target, for encouraging employees to not leave water running in the sink.  The employees have embraced this policy and they say they are now much more conscious of the water they use in their own homes!   Way to go Gina!
